The Advanced Band joined forces with the Wind Symphony from California State University Northridge to perform Todd Stalter's exciting composition for concert band, "Rampage!" This video project was the culminating project for the fall semester. For their next project the Advanced Band will again be partnering with our friends at CSUN and will be preparing a video for graduation. Stay Tuned!

The Advanced Orchestra at James Monroe High School would not allow the pandemic and stay at home order to stop them from making music. In this video members of the Advanced Orchestra perform Doug Spata's "Hunter's Moon". This video project was the culminating project for the fall semester. Next semester the Advanced Orchestra will be partnering with one of our local middle schools for their next project. Stay Tuned!

Thanks to the music education students from California State University Northridge, the Monroe Music Department is able to offer free private lessons every Saturday to its students. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of the CSUN students, the Monroe Music Department has been able to extend the offer to free private lessons to all students in the Monroe Cabinet, including Holmes Middle School, Sepulveda Middle School, and Porter Middle School.
The students receive 1 hour lessons once a week with the CSUN students. At the end of the semester students participate in an optional recital where students showcase their work for the semester. Students will perform solos as well as chamber music in a performance for their peers, families, and friends.
